Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 13 June 2026
Our Commitment
HERAM fully complies with applicable laws regarding child sexual abuse and exploitation, including the United Kingdom Online Safety Act, the United States PROTECT Act, and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions where our users are located.
We prohibit any content, conduct, or contact on HERAM that:
- Sexualises or exploits children in any form
- Solicits, grooms, lures, or otherwise targets a child for sexual purposes
- Distributes, advertises, or links to child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Attempts to facilitate contact between adults and children for inappropriate purposes
Age Restriction
HERAM is restricted to users aged 18 and over. During sign-up users provide a date of birth, and accounts with a date of birth indicating an age below 18 are rejected. Any account we later discover to belong to a minor is permanently removed.
How Users Report CSAE on HERAM
If you encounter content, a profile, or a message on HERAM that you believe involves the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child:
- Inside the app: tap the profile or message → Report → select "Child safety / sexual exploitation"
- By email: send a report to support@herambatech.com with as much detail as you can provide (account, screenshots, time, what happened)
Reports are reviewed urgently and reporters are kept anonymous from the reported user. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, please also contact local emergency services and the appropriate child-safety hotline (e.g., the NSPCC in the UK on 0808 800 5000, or the NCMEC CyberTipline in the US at 1-800-843-5678).
How We Prevent CSAE on HERAM
Account-level safeguards
- Phone number verification on sign-up to deter throwaway accounts
- Age gate at registration (date of birth)
- Accounts can only be created by individuals aged 18 and over
Content safeguards
- Uploaded profile and event photos are subject to review
- Users can block, unfriend, and report other users at any time
- All direct messages can be reported in-app
Operational safeguards
- All reports of suspected CSAE are reviewed by HERAM's safety team within 24 hours
- Confirmed CSAE results in immediate account termination and a permanent device/identifier ban
- HERAM cooperates with law enforcement and reports apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and equivalent agencies
What Happens After a Report
- The reported account is provisionally restricted while we investigate
- Our safety team reviews the report and any evidence
- If the report is substantiated, the offending account is permanently removed
- Where CSAM is suspected, content is preserved for law enforcement and reported to NCMEC's CyberTipline (or the equivalent body in the jurisdiction)
- The reporter is notified of the action taken where appropriate
