Your safety, our baseline
HERAM is for organising real-world meetups. That means real-world common sense. Here's how to use HERAM safely, and what we do behind the scenes to help.
Before you go
- Meet in a public place. Cafés, parks, restaurants, public venues — never someone's home for the first meet.
- Tell a friend. Tap "Share my plans" inside the app — HERAM sends event details + location to a friend via your phone's share menu.
- Arrange your own transport. Don't get picked up; don't share a ride with someone you've never met.
- Charge your phone & bring it. Stay reachable.
- Have an exit plan. Know how you're getting home before you arrive.
During the meetup
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Keep an eye on your drink. Don't accept drinks you haven't seen poured.
- Pace alcohol. Your judgement is the most important safety tool you have.
- Don't share sensitive info too soon. Address, workplace, schedule — only with people you trust.
If something goes wrong
- Leave first, report after. Get to safety; the in-app report tool can wait.
- Tap Report on a profile, event, or message you want to flag. Reports go to our safety team.
- Block users any time. They won't see you again; you won't see them.
- Call emergency services if you're in danger. In the UK: 999. In the US: 911.
- Email us at support@herambatech.com for anything urgent or unclear.
What we do
- Phone verification at sign-up. Real numbers, not throwaway emails.
- 18+ confirmation. HERAM is adults-only.
- In-app reporting & blocking on every profile, event, and message.
- Review queue for reports — we triage and act, including bans where warranted.
- Friend-gated messaging. DMs only after both sides accept a friend request — no random "hey beautiful" messages.
- Safety reminders built into the RSVP flow — HERAM nudges you to think safety before you go.
What we can't do
- We don't run criminal background checks. (No consumer app does — and the ones that claim to are usually overstating it.)
- We can't verify someone's identity beyond their phone.
- We can't be there in person.
Use HERAM the way you'd use any introduction service: with curiosity and common sense.
