HERAM ("we", "our", "us") is a social and dating app that helps people meet, message, and attend events. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

• Phone number (used to sign in via one-time password)
• Display name, date of birth, gender
• Profile photo, bio, occupation, city
• Interests, hobbies, and what you're looking for
• Dating preferences (opt-in)

Location

With your permission, HERAM collects your device's precise location to show people and events near you. Location is only collected while you are using the app. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Content you create

• Direct messages you send to other users
• Events you host or attend
• Photos you upload as your profile picture or event covers

Automatically collected

• Basic device information needed to deliver the service (device type, OS version, app version)
• Crash logs to help us fix bugs

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account
• To show you nearby people and events
• To deliver messages between you and other users
• To send you notifications you've opted into
• To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations
• To improve HERAM

3. How We Share Your Information

HERAM does not sell your personal information.

Your profile information (display name, photo, bio, interests, approximate distance) is visible to other HERAM users in line with how social and dating apps work. Direct messages are visible only to you and the recipient.

We share information with service providers who help us run the app:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage
• Expo — push notifications and over-the-air updates
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — geocoding city names

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, or to enforce our Terms.

4. Data Security

All data transmitted between the HERAM app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS / TLS. Stored data is protected by access controls provided by our infrastructure providers.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, messages, events, and uploaded photos are removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. abuse reports may be kept longer for safety purposes).

• Revoke location, photo, or notification permissions in your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

HERAM is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

8. International Users

HERAM is operated from the United Kingdom. By using the app, you consent to your information being processed in the UK and other countries where our service providers operate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via the contact information you've provided.
